New Knife Bin for Brentwood
Last week, Roger Hirst MBE and Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner for Essex attended the installation of a new replacement knife bin in the Brentwood Borough.
Joined by Chief Inspector Terry Fisher, District Commander, West Local Policing Area, Mr Hirst welcomed the installation of the new knife bin at Brentwood police station as part of the Violence and Vulnerability Partnership efforts to reduce knife crime in the county and keep the streets of Essex safer.
Knife bins are safe and secure places to place unwanted knives or sharp items, with a knife bin in every district in Essex.
Essex VVU funds the knife bins across Essex, recognising the importance of safe secure disposal of knives. The knife bins play a key role in reducing knife crime in the county alongside our work with partners on early intervention, prevention and enforcement.
The bins were recently emptied as part of Knife Crime Awareness Week with thousands of knifes being taken off the streets and out of circulation permanently.
