Our ReRoute practitioners, who work with young people aged 17 – 25 (who have been arrested and on bail or released under investigation for offences relating to drugs and violence), have been analysing which approaches work best with the individuals we support and how we can ensure those we no longer need to work with are supported to safely exit our service and stay on a positive life track.
By looking at recent cases, the team can see how the involvement of ReRoute has positively impacted the young person, be this helping them back into education, facilitating training opportunities or diverting them away from a custodial sentence, due to reducing their risk and potential harm to others.
For many of the young people their voluntary involvement with ReRoute, not only has a positive impact on their own lives but on wider society, through reducing violence and by reducing costs to the public purse.
Involvement with ReRoute has shown to stop reoffending, reduce gang involvement and help young people reintegrate back into their communities, supporting our work to make Essex a safe place to live, work and grow up in.
