Senior Targeted Youth Advisor

I am Geraldine Horrix a Senior Targeted Youth Advisor with the Essex Youth Service (Essex County Council).

I am seconded to work with the VVU for the high-risk cohort (including work with young people and young adults). This approach has been set up to support young people who have been or are involved in knife and violent crime. This is a mostly adult cohort, I am using my skills from working with youths and applying them in adults with great success as part of our approach to learning and collaboration in the VVU.

I have worked for Essex County Council for over sixteen years, thirteen in the Youth Offending Service and three in the Essex Youth Service and am passionate about supporting young people to live happy and fulfilled lives.   Over this time, I have had many experiences which have shaped my desire to be part of the team at the VVU.

When not working I enjoy spending time with family and friends. I volunteer as a leader in my local Scout Pack and enjoy taking part in local events within my community.
